Utah

In September I took a personal trip to Utah and northern Arizona.  I was on a mission to revisit one of my favorite spots in the country – Muley Point.   It is a place that I visited while on a photography workshop while in college and have always wanted to return.  I waiting until close to the end of my  8 day trip…I was concerned that it would not be as amazing as it was 17 years ago…it was.  I flew into Salt Lake, rented a car, pointed at a map and drove.  My trip took me over 1800 miles and 6000+ photographs later I was done.  The shots can be viewed here: Utah_2011

Innocence

Raymond Towler was convicted of rape, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of kidnapping of a 11 year old girl and a 12 year old boy in Cleveland in 1981.  He was sentenced to life in prison.  He served 28.5 years before being exonerated in May 2010 after Mark Godsey and the Innocence Project contributed to his case proving his innocence with new DNA testing.  His story can be found here: Innocence Project

Rollergirls

We just did another round of pictures for the Black n Bluegrass Rollergirls site.  We shot several themes at a farm in Kentucky and had three hours to pull off 7 shots…this one was the very last frame…and my favorite.

57k turntable

A few months back we shot the “world’s best record player” for The Absolute Sound magazine.  It is a $57,000.00 390lb black and brass beast called the Walker Audio Proscenium Black Diamond Mk II made by Walker Audio We didn’t get the hear it though, but I can only imagine…here’s the review for anyone in the market.  For the shoot we had to shoot it on location in the editors home, on the third floor, and it could NOT be moved.  There was several hundred thousand dollars worth of amps/speakers/cables within inches of this unit.  It was a challenge to say the least.

We just shot a slightly less costly turntable last week for the same publication…to be continued…

Memorial Day ’010

Some friends planned a kickball game for memorial day this year with a bbq to follow.  To keep with the retro stylings of a game of kickball I played with some new settings in Lightroom.

ETC – Marvelous Wonderettes

I do a lot of work with the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati.  This was a pre-pro shoot for an upcoming show called The Marvelous Wonderettes by Roger Bean.  More here

Equador

I took a trip to Equador back in February to start a long term project, working with Jose Garcia on a spa/hotel in a remote part of the Andes.  The hotel is to be called The End of the World Spa.  This was the first of several planned trips to document the property, people, food and culture of Achupallas and the surrounding area in the Bolivar region of Equador.  The work will eventually be used to create a book, along with marketing and advertising materials.  A larger portfolio of images can be viewed HERE.

Too long…

Wow, I have not been on here since Dec 12. Way to long. I have shot and done a lot in the last 3+ months. Once things slow down in the a week or two, I have many images to put up on here and my main sites. Please check back soon. Here is a shot from my trip to Ecuador last month.

Cheer

Shot for a cover story on the best local high schools that appeared in Cincinnati Magazine . We were scheduled to shoot some football players and cheerleaders on a field at dusk.  It ended up raining non stop so we moved the shoot indoors.  We had brought a pop up tent in case we could shoot outside.  After two false starts we were finally able to make it outdoors just as the sun set.  There was an amazing mist/fog in the air which felt like 99% humidity.  It turned out to be a great shoot.

Zinc House

Here is a home that I recently photographed for architect Jose Garcia.  We had a perfect day for shooting this house with all the glass and beautiful fall colors outside.  By the time we completed the day we shot over 60 different angles on the house.  It makes it hard to edit.  More can be seen HERE

Ochocinco

We photographed Chad OchoCinco of the Cincinnati Bengals late last year.  The book just came out last month and was published by Crown Publishing | a division of Random House.  He is making the rounds on his book tour and the cover made it on Letterman.  You can buy the book here or here.OchoCinco

Cincinnati Observatory Center

I recently shot at story for Cincinnati Magazine on the Cincinnati Observatory Center.  I made 5 trips to their facilities during the month of August.  The two National Historic Landmarks sit atop a hill in Mt Lookout, OH.  The Observatory is home to the world’s oldest telescope still in use nightly by the general public.  You can view more images from the story here: Observatory

Natural Bridge

This is old…from February 2009, but I really like the shots of the girls. It is from Natural Bridge near Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Isabella and Madeleine both made the mile trek up and down.

Welcome to my inaugural post.  I have recently revamped all my sites and have decided to try this whole blog thing again.  After several incarnations I have launched two new sites: one for my advertising + editorial work and one for my architecture + interior work.  Please Enjoy!
